CD release show went excellent. Good attendance and the bands before and after were great, as true allies are. We will have photographs as well as video up soon, it just needs to be processed.

We are also planning on making shirts, so if you have any ideas/requests on what you want on them, let us know.

Our song "Fungus Brain" has appeared on Metal Breakfast Radio, co-hosted by Dave Ingram (Bolt Thrower/Benediction). It is episode 15.5!

Fungus Brain appeared on our split with Auroch, which came out last summer on CD. It's most likely sold out by now. We will be playing with Auroch, as well as Excavator, at our CD release show for A Menacing Reality. Planned for Friday, February 4th, this show will be an excellent demonstration of our full album, along with some quick ones afterwards.

New show, album business

We are proud to announce that we will be taking part of Reaver's West Canada tour for the Delta date on Saturday September 25th. This will be an excellent show with a promising lineup: Reaver, Deadriver Wasteland, First Reign, and Ancient Obliteration. We will have CDs for sale, mainly the split CDs (which are selling out) as well as the EP from last year.

Also the album mixing is still in the works. It should be completed by the end of this month. Expect some sample tracks sometime from now to October to show up.

Show coming up, Album update

Just letting you all know that we have a show coming up on September 4th. It's at Funky Winker Beans pub, $10 show starts at 9pm. We're on first so show up early. This show is to commemorate the great Ian "Sludge" Tellier and all three bands were close to Ian before he passed away.

The album has been recorded and is currently being mixed. It will be mastered after the mixing is approved and then to get pressed. We are planning for a run of 500 copies. The actual release date has yet to be decided. Artwork is also completed and may be viewed at Leslie's blog:

NEW SONG "Fungus Brain"

After almost a year since our last release "Destruction from the Past", we have a new song to show you all. It is not from our upcoming full length but rather an upcoming split with local metal band Auroch. It is titled "Fungus Brain". The split is due to be released at our July 3rd show at Funky Winker Beans, where we will be sharing the stage with Auroch, Titans Eve and French death metal band Seven Gates.

Show Tonight, another in a month

Not a lot has been posted here lately. We have been busy recording and preparing for this show. Recording has been slow, mostly due to re-recording due to issues. We have a ripping set planned for this evening in which we plan to please the audience. If photos are taken they will be posted.

The split tracks are almost completed, we are just waiting for them to be mastered now. Artwork is done, and Auroch's tracks will be following soon. The split is tentatively titled "Vancouver Supreme Heavy Attack" and will be released the evening of July 3rd, 2010.

May 28th Gig, plus Review

We are currently in the midst of recording. Drum tracks are done and we are waiting for those to get lined up properly. Guitars and bass will follow, etc.. etc..

SURPRISE SHOW - Russian Tall Ship

We have a surprising announcement.

We are scheduled to perform on the Russian tall ship The Kruzenshtern, which is docked in Lonsdale Quay (North Vancouver) for the duration of the Olympics. We are fortunate enough to have been chosen to play one of the first of many great nights of live music at this mighty boat.

The lineup is the following:

Marching Mind / Ancient Obliteration / Manyourhorse / Subtle Like a T-Rex

This is a diverse lineup and probably the first time we've played a gig without another death metal band. Tickets are unfortunately pricey at $50 but it is the Olympics after all.After this show we will hibernate a little longer and begin recording our full length in March. To be titled "A Menacing Reality".

New Gig

We have a show planned for the new year. It is at Funky Winker Beans, a bar downtown Vancouver on Hastings. We are eager to play new material for those that have missed us and newcomers as well. After the show a demo shall be recorded and then off to the full length. Tentative spring recording date... expect a mid to late summer independent release.

The band is currently experimenting with two guitarists, with Leslie switched from bass to guitar. Results are satisfying as of now. Recording the debut full length shall commence in the coming months.

Where Have We Been

Time to get back to business. We had quite a successful summer run with plenty of shows and an EP release to top it off. Since releasing the EP we have unfortunately not played any shows.

It is not the most flattering but it is honest without malevolence. The guy does a lot of reviews so check them out sometime. We hope to send more copies off to get reviewed.

There are some great photographs from the July 25th show, but we are waiting for some high res versions to be sent over. Once they are received they will be posted.

Currently we are now working on the material planned for the album. We are interviewing producers/sound engineers and working out a budget. If you know anyone that may be of interest please contact us.

EP Posted

T-shirts are in the works and are planned for a September release. Stay tuned for that.

As for our performance last week, it went excellent. Barbecutioner were great. Their grilling madness was inspiring. Masquerade of Silence was of course a pleasure to play with again, and good to play with Auroch for the first time.

July 18th, EP, and Surprise

We now have a show confirmed for July 18th, once again at the great Cobalt. We will be playing with Auroch, Masquerade of Silence, and Barbecutioner. It should be a good show.

The EP is in it's finishing stages right now. We will be mastering tomorrow, and the artwork is completed. If things go smoothly, the EP will be released at our July 18th performance.

Also we have a special surprise coming up for July 25th... Keep watching for that.

We have new photos to put up soon. These were taken by Max Foss, a friend of the band. We will have them put up soon, it is just a matter of decided which ones to use. In the meantime check out our myspace as there are some new ones up there.

Recording will be completed on Saturday, and after that mixing and mastering... Expect this release to be finished by end of June or early to mid July. Besides that we are preparing for our performance on June 11th with the mighty Funeral Circle.

Recording

Just an update: recording has been going at a moderate pace. We have two full tracks done and will soon get the final three recorded. Artwork is half done and after that we will commence the design of the EP.

The general response to Portal Beast has been good.

We have a show coming up on June 11th, with Merciless Onslaught, Inebriator, and the mighty Funeral Circle. We are working hard for this show to be our best yet.

Birthday and Recording

It was Marcell's birthday not so long ago, so we performed at his ritualistic gathering of intoxicated heathens. Some photos have been added to the evidence page.

We will begin recording on this coming Saturday, and will finish up hopefully the Saturday after. We are also submitting a song to a Canadian metal compilation. More updates on that as they transpire.

Two months later

It's been a while. March 20th was excellent. Geoff pulled off the performance quite well and solidified his position as band vocalist. The new material went over well, which brings us to more news: new songs have been written. We are a writing machine at this moment. We have an EP/demo recording session coming up at the end of this month, and after that it will be shows and more songs.

Also, photos will be posted soon. There were a few taken at the show.

Update: Vocals and Show

We've been quiet lately. That is because we have new material as well as a vocalist. His name is Geoff Olson. He does an excellent job and is improving each practice session. The new material is excellent and we hope it to be a little surprising.

You can witness this on March 20th at The Cobalt. We have a show booked there with Venocide, Morbid Surgeon, and Compound Terror. Check it out.

We also plan to write an EP in late April. This will have two songs written with the old guitarist and two songs written as a three piece. We plan for this to be our best sounding recording yet. Best in quality? Maybe. Best in atmosphere? Yes.

We have also been reviewed in a local paper, Absolute Underground. Here is what was said about our November 21st performance:

"This was Ancient Obliteration's first show as a three-piece, but the loss of a guitar player didn't seem to hold them back at all. It was a pretty surreal sight to see so much soul crushing sound coming out of three small guys. I'd describe them as The Doors being stabbed in the eye with an ice pick. I like it."

Cheers to Absolute Underground for the kind words. We hope to maintain these expectations set and plan to demolish the next show... which would be second place after Gyibaaw.

New Show and Photos

Photographs from the November 21st show have been posted, or will shortly be posted after this post. Also, we have a show on January 3rd. It is with headliner Gyibaaw from Prince George. This will be a crushing show! Like none other we have played before. It should not be missed, not for us but for Gyibaaw.

An Update

A few things to mention here:

a) The Nov. 21st show at The Cobalt went excellently. It was our first time performing as a three piece, and we were all fairly happy with the experience. We have photos to be put up soon.

b) We are currently on hiatus. Hopefully we will go back in motion soon, but we will most likely be in first gear again due to other responsibilities. We plan on writing new material before we play again.

c) A new demo was planned for this winter, but due to the hiatus it will have to be pushed further into 2009 sometime. Spring or summer. This is a process that is best not rushed in order to retain expected quality.

This beast will never die.

Shedding Skin

Unfortunately we must announce the departure of co-founder Tomasz Kubala (lead guitar). Tomasz helped start the project with Jacob and Leslie, and has now left due to a difference in direction among other reasons.

We will trudge on despite this, and are still playing our show this coming Friday. We will perform as a three piece. Currently we have no plans for replacing Tomasz. We also plan on recording a new demo soon, hopefully by the end of December.

Live Album Released!

We have released a live album titled Live: Wish We Were in Japan. This was recorded at Ian Fest I, our show back in September. It is dedicated completely to Ian "Sludge" Tellier, a respected (but underrated) member of the Vancouver scene who passed away in August.

This release is limited to 30 copies on CD. We may re-release more copies in the future, although something new might be a better idea. We currently have eight copies left after our show last night so contact us ASAP. These may sell out in a couple of weeks.

As for the show, it was succesful. The other bands were great too. We look forward to our show in November, where we hope to melt the imediate surroundings of the stage with radioactive leads, thundering bass and marching drums.

DEMOLISH RELEASED

Apologies to those that read this expecting news on the demo and photos that night. We have just received the demos in our hands last night. As for the photos, expect them up tonight or in a few days at most.

Titled "Demolish", this document features four original tracks and one bonus track all played with our second drummer and local hell raiser, Dragos Baciu. Unfortunately that means it is no longer a current representation of our sound as we now have a different drummer, but it instead serves as a inspection on our development. The recordings are raw and gritty, even maniacal at times.

September 13th and the Demo

Greetings, declaration from head master here. Our seance was deemed correct on the night of September 13th. We got the basement booming and preceded three great sets from Excavator, Vertex and Funeral Circle respectively. Evidence of this annihilation will be posted tonight.

One in Maple Ridge. This is invite only and only those who already know about it will be attending

The second is October 10th (Saturday) at The Cobalt. We will be supporting Evilosity, a modern death metal band from Vancouver Island. Two other acts will be playing as well: Masquerade of Silence and Sadistic Saint. Quite a varied show.

Welcome

Welcome to the current website of Ancient Obliteration. Yeah, this is a blog, but we'll get around to getting an actual website eventually. This will do for now.
Some information:

Our demo titled "Demolish" will be released soon; most likely within a week or two. More on that then.
Progress has been going smoothly with the band. We have been practicing regularly and getting our songs and playing tighter. We have a private gig coming up September 13th. If you're invited then we hope you enjoy it, otherwise you'll have to hear stories.

An EP is planned to be completed before the end of the year. Other releases are being planned as well.
